WORK RULES

House Crew (Minimum) 

  • A 4-person minimum House Crew is required at all time for all calls, a request can be submitted based on the event activity to ASMG. ASMG and Local 7 must mutually agree to reduce the size of the House Crew based upon duties required for the event. Requests must be received via the House Crew Reduction Request form 2 weeks prior to event date. 

 Calls (Minimum) 

  • The minimum hours paid for Stagehands shall be 4 hours for all ASMG calls. 
  • All hours beyond the minimum call on the same day and not interrupted by more than 2 hours shall be paid at the applicable half-hour rates. However, should the call be interrupted by more than 2 hours, a new 4-hour call begins. 
  • If a Stagehand on a minimum 4-hour call is released prior to actually working four hours, pay for all remaining hours will be at the rate applicable when the call began. 
  • Minor (<30 minutes) repairs or replacement required for the safety of patrons, performers or Stagehands are to be billed at the prevailing hourly rate in ½ hour increments. 
  • Scheduled meetings are not considered a minimum call and are to be billed at the prevailing hourly rate in ½ hour increments. Meetings are to be performed with continuity of call of the day. 

Meal Compensation

  • A Meal Break of not less than ½ hour or more than 1 hour shall be given between the fourth and fifth hour of a work period. 
    • When the nature of the business activity or other circumstances exist that makes an uninterrupted meal period impractical, the employee shall be permitted to consume an uncontested provided “on-duty” meal while performing duties. 
    • Staggering a meal break is permitted provided that 2 or more house crew are present during all work activity. 
    • If a meal break is not provided a meal penalty shall apply and be paid at 1 ½ times the prevailing rate until the meal break is taken.

Steward

  • When a call exceeds 12 hands (excluding House Crew) the Steward or their designee shall be called in no less than ½ hour prior to that call and shall be released no less than ½ hour later than the conclusion of the call. 

Overtime

  • Paid at 1½ times the straight-time hourly wage 
    • After forty hours of accumulated straight time work in one workweek. 
    • After eight consecutive hours of straight time work in a single work day. 
    • Between the hours of 6PM and 12AM / Monday – Friday. 
    • Between the hours of 7AM and 12AM / Saturday and Sunday. 

Double-time

  • Paid at 2 times the straight-time hourly wage 
    • Work performed between the hours of 12AM-7AM / Monday-Sunday

Performances

  • A 4-hour call starts over at ½ hour prior to the advertised curtain time, and any hours that are connecting to the performance work starting at the ½ hour prior to the advertised curtain time are considered part of the 4-hour minimum. 
    • 2 performances in one day - 8-hour minimum call applicable, beginning at the ½ hour prior to the advertised curtain time of the first performance 
    • 3 performances in one day - 10 hour minimum applicable, beginning at the ½ hour prior to the advertised curtain time of the first performance. 
    • If more than 1 performance is scheduled in one day, a break of more than 2 hours interrupts the work and stated performance minimums no longer apply. 
    • Any hours before the ½ hour prior to the advertised curtain time required to pre-set for a performance shall be billed at ½ hour increments and not be subject to a 4-hour minimum.

Commercial

  • Commercial rates shall be paid when the sole intent of an event, production, presentation or performance is to be broadcast in any medium. All work associated with the recording of the show and dress rehearsal shall be paid the commercial premium pay differential. 
    • Commercial rates shall be paid only during the actual audio / video recording of the event, production or performance. 
    • Exclusions to this article shall be granted to Tier III, A/V recording of 3 minutes or less, for archival purposes, free webcasts and keepsake high school graduations. 

Holidays

  • All work performed by House Crew or Intermittent Stagehands on Holidays shall be compensated at 1 ½ the straight time hourly rate. Christmas and New Year’s Day; Holiday pay shall begin on the preceding day at 4:30PM. 

Trucks

  • Truck loaders shall be paid per truck and each truck shall have a 2-hour maximum. Should additional time be required loaders shall be entitled to ½ truck rate / per hour until the job is complete. 
    • Half truck rate (2 hands minimum) will be paid on straight truck, non-passenger oversized cargo vans, trailers pulled by: POV, Van, Bus, or the like. 
    • Emergency Truck Loader Rate – This an option available when information is missed or unknown in the prior planning and stagehands are needed to be pulled from other work to assist with unloading/loading of a unscheduled truck. (1) hour minimum of this rate is applied and then ½ hour increments after that.

Yellow Card Show

  • By definition “Yellow Card Show” shall be defined as a presentation where the producer of the show has an agreement with the International Office of IATSE to employ a defined number of Union represented employees. At no time shall the defined number of Union represented employees be less than that number designated on the “Yellow Card”.
