The safety and security of all Arts Complex patrons, artists, and staff is our top priority. Increased security measures may be in place for your performance including bag checks and the use of hand-held or walk through metal detectors. All guests are strongly encouraged to arrive early for screening; exterior doors open one hour prior to your ticketed performance.

By presenting your ticket and entering our venue you consent to security screenings. Persons who refuse screening may be denied entry. Arts Complex management reserves the right to refuse any item deemed a potential safety or security risk or with the potential to be a distraction to the event being held. Arts Complex rules are subject to change.

Touchless Security Screening
Inside Boettcher Concert Hall, Buell Theatre and Ellie Caulkins Opera House, we have a touchless screening system that ensures safer, more accurate threat detection at a seamless pace to eliminate long entry lines. The technology identifies unknown metal objects on a separate digital monitor and notifies staff when secondary screening is necessary. If the device sounds an alert, you may be asked by staff to participate in additional screening before proceeding.

Please note, things like a metal clasp or chain on a purse, or an eyeglass case can sometimes trigger the alert, so we appreciate your patience and understanding if you asked to participate in further screening.

Exceptions will be made for those with disabilities, medical requirements and/or special needs. Patrons with specific/special dietary needs due to disabilities, medical conditions or special needs should contact us prior to attending the event to arrange for reasonable accommodations.

Patron Responsibilities

We are committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for everyone. Please be respectful of fellow patrons, our staff, and our property. Your decisions and actions impact those around you and we have the right to deny entry or remove patrons not adhering to our guest policies or for any other reason deemed necessary.

As a guest of the Arts Complex, you are expected to:

  • Be courteous to everyone.
  • Be respectful. Please abstain from foul language, fighting, throwing objects and other behaviors detrimental to the safety of patrons or staff. Verbal and physical abuse will result in removal without a ticket refund.
  • Follow directions from staff. Patron Safety is at the top of our list. Our staff members are your resource for information regarding venue operations, rules, and emergency procedures.
  • Consume alcoholic beverages responsibly.
  • Smoke, including e-cigarettes and vapes, in designated areas.
  • Put your phone away in the theatre. Please turn your cell phone off or set it to silent mode and refrain from using it for any reason during the performance.
  • Be a window, not a door. Do not limit the vision of those behind you or block aisles for any reason.
  • Be responsible for your own positive experience. Please report disruptive or inappropriate behavior to an usher, security officer, or Arts Complex staff member immediately.
  • Enjoy the show! With your help, we can provide a memorable experience for everyone.
