Departure will take you on a unique musical adventure. This expertly crafted program showcases the talents of the season’s Artists in Residence and delves into unique works that expand beyond the mainstage repertoire. Delight in pieces you know, and others you’ll discover in this exploration of opera, art song, musical theatre, and more.

Fans of Opera Colorado's annual American Song program, which debuted ten years ago, will love this next iteration that is an exciting departure from Opera Colorado’s typical programming and opportunity to say farewell to the season’s Artists in Residence. The first half of the program features the one-act opera The Companion by Robert Paterson, which offers a satirical take on the future of relationships. The second half of the program will explore relationships through pieces by composers including Alan Menken, Cole Porter, and Stephen Sondheim.

This program is ninety minutes with a brief intermission between parts. 

If you are hoping to be right in front of the action, consider a table seat to be closest to the stage. For all other seating, enjoy general admission and choose any other available seat.
