DCPA's Off-Center Announces Full Cast and Creative Team for This is Modern Art
Monday, March 12, 2018
DENVER – The Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) is proud to announce full casting and creative team for Off-Center’s production of This Is Modern Art. Based on a true incident in Chicago where a graffiti crew created an elaborate tag on the side of the Art Institute of Chicago’s brand new Modern Wing, This Is Modern Art gives a glimpse into the lives of anonymous graffiti artists and asks us to question the true purpose of art.

After a controversial premiere as part of the Steppenwolf for Young Adults series, the Off-Center production marks the first time that Idris Goodwin has directed the piece, which he co-authored alongside Kevin Coval.

This Is Modern Art will feature Robert Lee Hardy (DCPA Education’s The Snowy Day, Vintage Theatre’s A Time To Kill) as Seven, John Jurchek (Curious Theatre Company’s Hand To God, DCPA Theatre Company’s Jackie & Me) as Ensemble, Chloe McLeod (Miners Alley Playhouse’s Fun Home, DCPA’s A Christmas Carol) as Selena, Jake Mendez (Aurora Fox’s Hedwig and the Angry Inch, DCPA Debut) as Dose, Marco Robinson (Miners Alley Playhouse’s Fun Home, Off-Center’s The Wild Party) as Jose Clemente/JC, and Brynn Tucker (Local Theater Company’s The Rape of the Sabine Women, DCPA Theatre Company’s Frankenstein) as Ensemble.

The production will include designs by Nicholas Renaud (Scenic Designer), Meghan Anderson Doyle (Costume Designer), Katie Gruenhagen (Lighting Designer), Elisheba Ittoop (Sound Designer),
Topher Blair (Projection Design), Robin Munro (Graffiti Artist), Grady Soapes (Casting), and stage management by Rick Mireles.
