Traffic, Detours Around Denver Performing Arts Complex May 19-23
Monday, May 16, 2016
Denver Arts & Venues and Denver Public Works would like commuters to be aware of a transportation improvement project that begins Thursday, May 19, lasting through the weekend, that impacts streets in and around downtown Denver. Road closures, and likely traffic congestion, affecting Arts Complex patrons include southbound Speer Boulevard from Champa Street to Colfax Avenue.

On Thursday, May 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Denver Public Works Street Maintenance crews will close lanes along southbound Speer Boulevard from Champa Street to Colfax Avenue for milling operations. Two lanes of traffic will remain open while milling is underway. Then at 7 p.m. on May 19, southbound Speer Boulevard will fully close from Champa Street to Colfax Avenue for RTD light rail repair and maintenance, and will re-open Monday, May 23, at 4 a.m. Southbound Speer Boulevard traffic will detour onto Kalamath Street during the closure.

As a part of the Regional Transportation District (RTD) ongoing State of Good Repair efforts to provide safe and reliable service for riders, portions of the light rail system will also be temporarily closed May 20-23. This will affect people planning on using the light rail system to get to the Arts Complex. During the closure, there will be no light rail service on the C, D, E, F and H lines north of the I-25 Broadway station, however, bus shuttle service will be available from the I-25 Broadway station.

Denver Arts & Venues encourages visitors to plan ahead and allow ample time for arrival to the Arts Complex. Drivers should anticipate detours and delays with these improvement projects. The public’s patience and cooperation during construction is greatly appreciated. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
