Colorado Ballet presents 55th annual production of The Nutcracker
Monday, October 26, 2015
Colorado Ballet will present 26 performances of The Nutcracker, November 28 through December 27, 2015 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, with live music by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.

“Bring your entire family to the 55th annual production of The Nutcracker with fantastic characters, brilliant dancing, exquisite sets, dazzling costumes, timeless choreography and Tchaikovsky’s extraordinary arrangement performed live by our tremendously talented musicians,” said Gil Boggs, Colorado Ballet Artistic Director.  “This enchanting production brings the classic holiday story to life and will transport audiences to lands of wintertime magic and delicious sweets.”

According to Boggs, it takes a lot of people and moving parts to create The Nutcracker.  Colorado Ballet’s production includes 30 Company dancers, 15 Studio Company dancers, more than 80 Academy students, several guest performers, a full orchestra of musicians and more than 300 costumes.  During each performance, stagehands drop more than 100 pounds of artificial snow on stage and use more than 50 pounds of dry ice to create fog.

“You will not see another production like this anywhere in Colorado,” said Boggs.  “Our dancers rotate the lead roles and divertissements, so every performance is a little unique and magical.  Maybe this is why after 55 seasons The Nutcracker continues to be one of Colorado’s most popular holiday traditions.”

Last season, Colorado Ballet sold out 22 of the 24 performances of The Nutcracker.

“Unfortunately, as the number of sold out Nutcracker performances grows each year, so do the number of ticket resellers,” said Taylor Clark, Ticketing and Database Manager.  “Many ticket resellers purchase lower priced tickets and sell them at a significantly higher cost.  That is why we encourage our patrons to purchase their tickets early and only buy them directly through Colorado Ballet or our partners at Altitude Tickets.  We want everyone to have the chance to enjoy the joy of The Nutcracker and not overpay for tickets.”

Ticket prices range from $30 to $155. To purchase tickets, visit www.ColoradoBallet.org or call 303-837-8888 ext. 2.
