Governor Hickenlooper to Receive National Award for State Arts Leadership at CBCA’s Annual Business for the Arts Awards Luncheon
Wednesday, February 18, 2015
Colo. Governor John Hickenlooper will receive the 2015 National Award for State Arts Leadership from Americans for the Arts and The United States Conference of Mayors during the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA)’s annual Business for the Arts Awards Luncheon.  Over 700 statewide arts, business and civic leaders will attend CBCA’s sold-out event on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Seawell Ballroom at the Denver Performing Arts Complex.

The 2015 Public Arts Leadership Awards were presented at The U.S. Conference of Mayors’ Winter Meeting on January 23, 2015. Gov. Hickenlooper was awarded the 2015 National Award for State Arts Leadership, but was unable to attend the ceremony.  The other two winners for 2015 were Annise Parker, mayor of Houston, Texas and Donnalee Lozeau, mayor of Nashua, New Hampshire.

“Gov. Hickenlooper embodies the best of what a civic leader can do to promote the arts,” said Robert L. Lynch, president and CEO of Americans for the Arts. “He understands the important role the arts play in advancing the economy and uniting communities. Americans for the Arts applauds the governor’s accomplishments and the efforts made by all civic leaders to support and promote arts and arts education nationwide.”

At CBCA’s upcoming event, Robert L. Lynch will present Gov. Hickenlooper with this prestigious award.  Following, CBCA will announce the winners of 2015 Business for the Arts Awards in five categories: Create, Impact, John Madden, Jr. Leadership, EY Next Wave Leadership, and Philanthropy.  Visit cbca.org to read about the fifteen outstanding finalists.

This event will also kick-off CBCA’s 30th Anniversary of connecting businesses and the arts to advance Colorado’s creative vitality.  “CBCA has been celebrating arts & business partnerships for 30 years. The 2015 Business for the Arts Awards showcase a history of excellence, innovation and philanthropy across Colorado,” says Deborah Jordy, Executive Director of CBCA. Deborah Jordy currently sits on the national Board of Directors for Americans for the Arts.
